This article applies only to version 3.0 of the Cloud Service Agreement. Invoicing & Payment was called Payment Process in earlier versions. For version 2.x, see Payment Process. Learn more about agreement versions.
Invoicing & Payment is a variable that appears in the Cloud Service Agreement Cover Page, in the Order Form section. This section is for your agreement's key business terms.
All of the agreement's billing and payment terms live here. Section 4.3 (Payment) of the Standard Terms points to the terms in the Order Form.
How to fill this out
How will you bill your customer and how will they pay you? There are three options:
Automatic payment
Choose this option if you plan to collect payment information from your customer and take payment automatically on a schedule. This is a good option for auto-renewing agreements. Choose how often you'll collect payment.
Default: Automatic payment, collected monthly
Bill by invoice
Choose this option if you'll send your customer an invoice each billing cycle. You then set:
Invoice period - how often you send invoices
Payment terms - how long your customer has to pay each invoice
The default payment terms are 30 days from Customer's receipt of invoice, sometimes called NET-30.
Custom process
Choose this option if your billing doesn't fit the automatic payment or invoicing models. Describe your payment process in your own words. The text appears on the Cover Page for your customer to review before signing.
Collect customer billing email
For any of the three options, you can check Collect customer billing email to require your customer to provide billing contact information before they sign. Your customer then sees two fields on the agreement:
Billing contact full name
Billing email address
To collect billing info after signature instead, add a billing workflow to the agreement.
What changed from version 2.x
Payment Process was renamed Invoicing & Payment. The payment options are the same.
The Standard Terms no longer have separate Invoicing and Automatic Payment subsections. All billing and payment terms are set here, on the Order Form.
