NOTE: This integration is in private beta. To inquire about access to the beta, reach out to us at [email protected].

This article will guide you through the features of the Common Paper Salesforce integration. If you haven't already, please install the integration first.

Viewing Common Paper Agreements in Salesforce

Once the integration has been completed and you've added the Common Paper widget to your contacts, accounts and opportunities pages, you'll begin to see Common Paper agreement information in your Salesforce account.

Any agreements matching the criteria will be listed, each with a key information about the agreement and the ability to view it.

This table shows the 3 different places Common Paper agreement information will show, and the criteria for displaying agreements. NOTE: Regardless of all other criteria, voided agreements are NOT shown.

Object

Criteria for Display Agreements

Contacts

Any agreements where the contact email is either a recipient or included as a CC

Accounts

Any agreements where any associated contacts are a recipient or included as a CC

Opportunities

Any agreements where any associated contacts or associated companies (and their associated contacts) are a recipient or included as a CC. Additionally, any Common Paper agreements created from this record in Salesforce.

Here's an example:

Clicking View will display the agreement in Common Paper, while History will go straight to the agreement history page. Only users with active Common Paper accounts will be able to view these pages in Common Paper. Others will be asked to log in.

For agreements that are still in-flight, you may also see the Actions menu, which gives you additional options, including:

  • Resend Last Email - this will re-send the latest email that a customer received from Common Paper. It's often used just to remind customers to review or sign.

  • Get shareable link - this creates a link that can be sent to anyone to review the agreement, however only the signer will be able to actually sign. Read more about shareable links.

  • Void - this cancels the agreement request and notifies the customer

Also note that Salesforce does not automatically refresh the agreements when things happen in Common Paper. If a new agreement isn't showing, try refreshing Salesforce to see if that makes it appear.

NOTE: Voided agreements are not shown, so by confirming a void of an agreement, that agreement will no longer appear in Salesforce.

Creating Common Paper Agreements from Salesforce

In addition to viewing Common Paper agreements, you can also kick off the process of creating new agreements directly from Salesforce.

At the top of the widget click the Create button.

This will open a window that lets you choose which Common Paper template for the new agreement. Select the one you would like to use and click Create Agreement.

This will open Common Paper in a new tab directly on the create agreement page using the template that you selected.

The Email Address and Name fields will be pre-populated with the either the primary contact (if designated) or the first associated contact with the record. Additional associated contacts will be automatically added as CC users. These can be removed or changed to better reflect the appropriate recipients.

At this point the agreement can be sent as normal, and the agreement will appear in Salesforce on the appropriate objects as laid out above.
