After an agreement is sent in Common Paper, it's common that some of the underlying settings that govern that agreement will need to change.

This includes operations like:

  • Reassigning the recipient

  • Changing the expiration date or email automation settings

  • Adding or removing users from the Keep Informed list

  • and more

Adjusting Agreement Settings

Just below the current status on the agreement history page is a section titled Settings.

The Edit button will bring up the settings that are available for change while the agreement is in-flight. The original values for these settings are set when creating an agreement.

NOTE: Depending on the status of the agreement and/or the user's permission levels, some or all of the settings may be locked and unable to be changed.

Here are the available settings:

Signer

If you are on the Growth plan or higher, you have the ability to have a different signer than the person that originally sent the agreement. Here you can change who needs to sign the agreement (internally) while the agreement is in-flight.

Allow Negotiation

Toggle on or off the ability for recipients to be able to Propose Changes.

Automation

Turn on or off automated email reminders, and disable or reset an agreement's expiration date

Document Settings

Toggle whether to include the Standard Terms when downloading a PDF or Word version of the agreement.

When you have finished making your changes, click Save Agreement and the changes will take place immediately.

Altering Counterparty Information

To adjust recipient information, find the Roles section of the agreement history page.

Clicking on the Edit dropdown in the upper right corner gives you options to be able to change a few different aspects of recipient information for the agreement.

Change Recipient

Reassigns the agreement to a different recipient. This triggers an email to both the old and new recipient informing them of the change.

Edit Counterparty Information

Allows you to add/change the recipient name, organization, title and address information. Your recipient also can add or change this information when viewing the agreement.

Edit CC'd list

Allows you to add or remove recipients from the Keep Informed list that is optionally set up when sending an agreement. These email addresses are copied on any emails sent to the recipient and are given view-only access to the agreement.
