This step by step guide will help you set up an integration between Common Paper and Zapier that can be used to further integrate with other systems like Slack and Notion.
Important Note
This integration between Common Paper and Zapier includes the use of webhooks and multi-step Zaps, both of which require a paid subscription to Zapier. Any paid level will do, including the cheapest plan available.
See the Zapier pricing plans here.
In Zapier
Create a new Zap
Click on Trigger, and choose Webhooks by Zapier
For the Event, choose Catch Hook and then Continue
Click Continue for the 'Pick off a child key' step as well - you can leave this blank.
This will take you to the testing step, where you will see this:
Copy the webhook URL.
In Your Common Paper Account
In a new tab, log into your Common Paper account.
Click on the Integrations section on the left navigation
Paste the URL you copied from Zapier into the Notifications webhook Callback URL textbox and then click Save Changes.
Now you’ll need to send a new agreement in Common Paper in order for the webhook call to be captured by Zapier. The easiest way to do this is to send an NDA to your personal account or someone else in your organization.
In Zapier
Click the ‘Test Trigger’ button.
You should get a result like this, which just confirms that Zapier has received the webhook.
Click Continue with selected record, which will take you to the next step.
Building Integrations
At this point, you're receiving Common Paper webhook notifications.
From here, you can explore any integrations that Zapier provides, including:
Sending notifications in Slack as agreements move through the signature process
Updating a Google Spreadsheet with Common Paper information after an agreement is signed
Integrating with a CRM to update agreement status
