Brand Guidelines (optional)

Common Paper Partnership Agreement term: Brand Guidelines - what to fill in for Company and Partner, and how to fix brand guidelines errors

Written by Mark Frantz

Brand Guidelines is a variable that appears in the Partnership Agreement Cover Page, in the Key Terms section. It is optional: if you leave Include brand guidelines unchecked, the agreement has no brand guidelines.

How to fill this out

Brand guidelines explain how each party may use the other's brand in marketing assets, such as the appropriate sizes and orientations of a logo. Company and Partner are the two parties named on the Cover Page, and each can have its own guidelines.

When you check Include brand guidelines, two more checkboxes appear. Check at least one of them:

  • Include Company brand guidelines - Enter a link to Company's brand guidelines, or describe where to find them. Once this box is checked, the text field can't be left empty.

  • Include Partner brand guidelines - Enter Partner's guidelines yourself, or leave the field empty and Partner is asked to fill it in before signing.

Fixing brand guidelines errors

There are three brand guidelines errors, and each one means a checked box is missing what it needs:

  • Brand Guidelines for Company must have a value if included. - Include Company brand guidelines is checked, but its text field is empty. Add a link or description, or uncheck Include Company brand guidelines.

  • Brand Guidelines for Company or Partner must be included if checked. - Include brand guidelines is checked, but neither the Company nor the Partner box is. Check one of them, or uncheck Include brand guidelines if you don't want brand guidelines in the agreement.

  • Partner must fill out Brand Guidelines. - You're the recipient, the agreement asks for Partner brand guidelines, and that field is still empty. Add a link to your brand guidelines or describe where to find them, then sign.

Default: Not included.
