Proposing Changes to a Sent Agreement

How to propose changes to a sent agreement, what your recipient sees, and how to download the updated version.

After you've sent an agreement, you can update the cover page terms using Propose Changes. When you submit, your recipient gets an email notification and can review a redlined version of the cover page showing exactly what changed.

This option is only available for in-flight agreements that haven't yet been signed by either party.

How to Propose Changes

From the agreement history page, click Other actions and select Propose changes. This opens the cover page editor where you can update any of the deal terms.

Full size preview

Make your changes to the cover page fields. When you're ready, click Submit changes in the top right corner. Your recipient will receive an email letting them know the agreement has been updated. Proposing changes without sending this email is currently unsupported.

If you want to discard your edits, click Cancel changes. Your changes will be lost immediately - there is no confirmation step, so make sure you're ready before clicking.

NOTE: There's no preview option for proposed changes - your edits are either saved and sent to the recipient or discarded.

What Your Recipient Sees

When you submit, your recipient receives an email notifying them the agreement has changed. When they open it, they'll see a redlined version of the cover page that highlights what's different from the previous version.

Proposing Changes More Than Once

You can propose changes as many times as needed. Each time you submit, your recipient gets a new notification and sees the latest cover page. You can keep making changes until either party signs the agreement.

Downloading the Agreement

The download option isn't available while you're actively editing - the editor only shows Submit changes and Cancel changes. Once you've submitted your changes, you can download the latest version from the agreement history page.
