Collaborating on a Review as a Team

How to assign redlines and issues to team members, get notified when items are assigned to you, invite teammates, and use the shared review chat.

Gerri is built for teams. You can assign individual redlines and issues to specific reviewers, get notified when something lands in your queue, and share a live conversation with your team about any review - all without leaving the app.

How Assignments Work

Gerri automatically assigns reviewers when a review completes, but the logic differs depending on the review type.

In a redlined agreement review, only items marked Needs Review are assigned to a reviewer. Redlines that Gerri automatically accepted, rejected, or counterproposed don't need a human decision, so no reviewer is assigned to them.

In a clean agreement review, every issue that Gerri raises is assigned to a reviewer - based on which team member is designated for that rule in your playbook.

For items that don't match any playbook rule, Gerri falls back to a default reviewer you can configure at the organization level. To set or change the default reviewer, go to Settings and look for the default reviewer option.

Reassigning Items

Assignments can be changed at any time. On the detail view for any redline or issue, click Reassign next to the assigned reviewer's name and select a different team member from the list.

Filtering by Reviewer

On the Review Details page, use the All reviewers dropdown to filter the list by a specific team member. This is useful when you want to see only the items assigned to one person - for example, to check on progress or to work through your own assignments in a review.

Getting Notified

Gerri notifies reviewers by email in two situations, and the email you receive depends on how the assignment happened.

When a review completes: If Gerri automatically assigned items to you during analysis, you'll receive a general notification email letting you know that a review has completed and there are items for you to look at. The email tells you which review to open, but doesn't link to specific items.

When someone manually reassigns an item to you: If a teammate uses Reassign to route a specific redline or issue to you, you'll receive a targeted email with a direct link to that item. Clicking the link takes you straight to the detail view.

Inviting Team Members

You can add team members to your Gerri workspace from Settings > Team. Enter their email address to send an invitation - they'll receive an email and can join your workspace from there.

You can also invite someone directly during the reassignment process. If the person you want to assign an item to isn't in your workspace yet, you can enter their email address when reassigning. Gerri sends them an invitation, and when they accept it, they're taken directly to the item you assigned them.

Shared Review Chat

Every review has a shared Ask about this review chat where you can ask Gerri questions about the agreement or any of the decisions made. The chat is shared across your team - everyone on the review sees the same conversation history, so your teammates can see what questions have already been asked and what Gerri said.

To open the chat, click the chat icon from the Review Details page. Type your question in plain language - for example, asking about the business impact of a specific clause or how a redline compares to your playbook's position. Gerri has full context of the agreement and all of the review decisions, so its answers are specific to the document in front of you.
